Hi there!Hi! I’m Alyssa, & I’m really glad you’re here.
I know that most people don’t start looking for a therapist because everything is going perfectly. Maybe something happened that made you realize you need some extra support, or maybe you’ve just been carrying a lot for a long time. Either way, reaching out can feel like a big step.
When I created a Joy Collaborative, I wanted it to feel like a place where people in all different ages and stages of life could come as they are. A place to talk through the hard stuff, understand yourself a little better, feel supported, & hopefully learn how to live a little lighter.
One of my favorite parts of being a therapist is getting to really know the people I work with. I want to know more than what brought you to therapy. I want to know your story, where you came from, the experiences that have shaped you, the people who matter to you, what makes you laugh, what keeps you up at night, and & what you hope life can look like from here.
I also want you to feel like you can be yourself with me. You don’t need to have the right words, know exactly what you want to work on, or show up with everything figured out. Some sessions might be hard. Some might be full of realizations. And sometimes we might laugh. That’s all part of it.
My job is to meet you where you are, help you make sense of what you’re carrying, & give you tools that actually make sense for your life. And along the way, I’ll be there to celebrate the wins with you, both the big ones & the ones that might not feel so big to anyone else.
Outside of being a therapist, I’m a wife to a first responder/veteran & a mom to two little boys. Those roles have shaped me in more ways than I could probably put into words, & they’ve given me an even deeper appreciation for how messy, exhausting, meaningful, & beautiful different seasons of life can be.
More than anything, I hope therapy feels like a place where you can exhale a little, feel understood, and know you have someone in your corner.
I look forward to getting to know you.

Licensed Master Social Worker SC - currently providing services under the supervision of Pamela Brown, LISW-CP-S, through Be the Change Counseling.
I earned both my Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees from North Carolina State University as a Child Welfare Education Collaborative student.
I have years of experience in child welfare and mental health settings.
I began my career in child protective services, investigating cases of child abuse and neglect, and later worked as an adoption and home study social worker. These experiences shaped my trauma-informed, developmentally sensitive approach to therapy and gave me a deep understanding of family systems, foster care, adoption, and DSS involvement. I own South Carolina Adoption Home Study Services, where I provide adoption services to families.
